12 Times Table Maze Activity Worksheets

Bring an element of fun to multiplication revision with this 12 times table maze activity worksheet. Pupils begin at the “START” box and must colour only the correct multiplication facts for the 12 times table to find a path to “FINISH”. They can move up, down, left or right – but not diagonally – as they work their way through the grid. As learners decide which boxes to colour, they’ll encounter both accurate and incorrect equations, encouraging careful checking of each calculation.

Key Curriculum Focus

This KS2 times tables/multiplication worksheet aligns with the national curriculum by supporting:

  • Recalling and applying multiplication facts for the 12 times table
  • Identifying incorrect answers and correcting errors in reasoning
  • Strengthening number recall through pattern recognition and active decision-making

Engaging children in a maze format, this 12 times table maze activity worksheet builds multiplication confidence through a process of elimination. As they evaluate each equation to decide whether it belongs to the 12 times table, learners revisit known facts, apply critical thinking and strengthen fact recall in a playful and interactive setting.

12 Times Table in KS2 Maths

Multiplying by 12 becomes a key part of the upper KS2 curriculum, with pupils learning to apply this knowledge to more complex number problems. For example, they may calculate that 6 × 12 = 72 by doubling 6 × 6, or use related facts such as 10 × 12 = 120 to find 9 × 12 by subtracting one group of 12. Through varied practice including mazes, arrays and code-breaking tasks, children improve their accuracy and recall.

Activity Idea: Facts and Traps

Using mini whiteboards, set up a class-wide race with multiplication facts from the 12 times table. Include both correct and incorrect equations. When a ‘trap’ (false statement) appears, learners must hold up a red card instead of the answer. This quick-fire game helps pupils build accuracy and spot common misconceptions while revising multiplication facts.
