12 Times Table Spin and Solve Activity Worksheets

Help your learners build quick recall of multiplication facts with this 12 times table spin and solve activity worksheet. Children begin by spinning a paperclip around the central spinner to generate a multiplication calculation, such as 6 × 12. They must then solve it and write the full equation into one of the matching numbered hexagons. Each product appears three times in the grid, and children keep spinning and writing until all spaces are filled. The game-like structure encourages repetition, making it ideal for reinforcing facts in a fun and motivating format.

Key Curriculum Focus

This KS2 times tables/multiplication worksheet aligns with the national curriculum by supporting:

  • Rapid recall of multiplication facts for the 12 times table
  • Reinforcement of multiplication through repeated retrieval and variation
  • Applying multiplication knowledge in a purposeful game format

By combining fact fluency with a simple rotation and recording task, our 12 times table spin and solve activity worksheet encourages children to practise key facts in a repetitive yet purposeful way. Pupils are required to use known facts accurately, recognise patterns, and apply knowledge to multiple occurrences of the same product, building automaticity through active engagement.

12 Times Table in KS2 Maths

Developing a solid understanding of the 12 times table supports children with more complex multiplication, especially when working with larger numbers or using formal written methods. For example, if pupils know that 12 × 7 = 84, they can scale this up to calculate 84 × 100 mentally. During KS2, learners consolidate their knowledge of all times tables through varied approaches including games, memory tasks and applied problem-solving activities.

Activity Idea: Hexagon Match Race

Prepare laminated hexagon cards with products of the 12 times table written on them. Spread them across a table or the floor. Call out a multiplication calculation (e.g. 8 × 12) and challenge children to race and find the matching hexagon. For more reasoning, ask them to explain how they worked it out or justify which known fact they used to help.
