7 Times Table Arrays Activity Worksheets

Bring multiplication to life with this 7 times table arrays activity worksheet, designed to help children visualise and understand the concept of repeated addition. For each 7 times table question, pupils use the grid provided to colour in a matching array – for example, for 3 × 7, they would shade three rows of seven squares. Once the array is complete, they write the total in the answer box beside each calculation. This worksheet promotes a visual approach to multiplication by allowing children to see how groups of sevens build up to the total, reinforcing both the concept and the facts behind the 7 times table.

Key Curriculum Focus

This KS2 times tables/multiplication worksheet aligns with the national curriculum by supporting:

  • Connecting multiplication to repeated addition and visual representations
  • Developing understanding of arrays as a foundation for multiplication
  • Reinforcing 7 times table facts using pictorial and written strategies

Using this 7 times table arrays activity worksheet, learners engage with multiplication in a highly visual and tactile way. The use of arrays allows them to build meaning behind each multiplication fact, while the act of colouring in each group encourages careful counting and accurate reasoning. This strengthens their ability to recall multiplication facts with understanding, rather than relying solely on rote memory.

7 Times Table in KS2 Maths

Multiples of 7 can be more challenging to remember, so visual approaches are especially helpful. For example, 4 × 7 = 28 can be represented as four rows of seven squares. In KS2, children deepen their understanding of times tables by exploring them through arrays, bar models and number patterns. This hands-on, visual learning helps bridge the gap to more abstract methods such as formal written multiplication or problem-solving with unknowns.

Activity Idea: Human Arrays Group

Give each child a number card between 1 and 12, then call out a 7 times table calculation like 6 × 7. Children must group themselves into six rows of seven and sit in an organised array. Once complete, count aloud together to confirm the answer and reinforce the link between multiplication and grouping. This activity encourages active learning and whole-class participation.
