Division Challenges: Find the Question Task Cards

Embark on a journey with these division challenges: find the question task cards! Children are presented with answers, whether whole numbers or decimal numbers and are tasked with finding potential division questions leading to those answers. For example, they may tackle questions like, “If the answer is 24, what could the question be? Can you solve this using division?” The task cards show large, bold numbers and lively illustrations of a child holding up the division sign. Educators have the flexibility to use the provided blank copy for customising answers, catering to different learning abilities.

This tool is designed to demonstrate to children that mathematics encompasses various approaches to finding answers to questions, including the technique of working backwards. It emphasises the concept of manipulating mathematical questions and problems. Additionally, this resource will both challenge and improve their understanding of division and problem-solving skills.

Our division challenges: find the question task cards are aligned with KS2 division on the national curriculum. This primary resource can be used with your ideas for maths activities and games, display boards, teaching material, learning aids, differentiation, homework, and lesson plans.
