Prefixes Anchor Charts | KS1/KS2 Writing & Spelling | Primary English

Prefixes Anchor Charts

These prefixes anchor charts demonstrate how prefixes are formed. Each page illustrates the meaning of a prefix; for example, “dis” means “not,” as in “disagree”, accompanied by a bank of relatable prefixes. With a title page and an explanation page, there are fifteen prefixes for learners to explore. The posters follow a sky theme with the sun and clouds.

These prefixes anchor charts will assist children in recognising that adding a prefix alters the meaning or grammatical function of a base word, aiding them in deciphering the meanings of complex words encountered in reading and writing. Additionally, learning prefixes introduces children to a wide range of new words and helps them understand the meanings of unfamiliar words by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable parts.

Our prefixes anchor charts are aligned with KS2 writing composition on the primary national curriculum. This primary resource can be used with your ideas for writing activities, display boards, games, teaching material, learning aids, differentiation, homework, and lesson plans.
