Types of Poetry Information Cards

Each page of these types of poetry information cards shows a distinct style of poetry with a large bold heading along with its definition. For example, “Couplet: A pair of lines in a poem, of the same length, that rhyme and complete one thought.” The cards are in different bright colours for visual appeal and ease of learning.

The diverse range of poetry styles showcased on the cards can inspire children to explore different forms of expression in their own writing. With these types of poetry information cards, children will become familiar with various poetry styles as they gain confidence in their ability to recognise and discuss different literary techniques.

Diamante, Ballad, Haiku, Acrostic, Epic, Free Verse, Cinquain, Lyric, Ode, Narrative, Sonnet, Elegy, Couplet, Shape, Nonsense, Imagery

Our types of poetry information cards are aligned with KS2 poetry and writing composition on the primary national curriculum. This primary resource can be used with your ideas for activities involving poems and playwriting, display boards, games, teaching material, learning aids, differentiation, homework, and lesson plans.
