Year 2 | Writing Sentences – Commands Worksheets

In these Year 2 writing sentences – commands worksheets, your learners will discover the exciting world of commands! They will be informed that a command is a sentence that tells someone to do something, like “Go to your room.” and that commands typically begin with a verb and end with either a full stop or an exclamation mark. They will then go through a mixed group of sentences, as their task is to identify the ones that are commands. Your class will get to think about what sets a command apart, and enjoy the process of spotting them! Thereafter, a dash of creativity is added… your little learners will write two sentences of their own, ensuring that they are commands and remembering what they have learned from the worksheet so far.

This activity is a fantastic way for your pupils to dive into crafting their own commands and understanding how they differ from other sentence types. Plus, they will have the chance to practice using full stops and exclamation marks to punctuate their sentences. Get ready for a fun writing adventure!

Our Year 2 grammar worksheets are aligned with the KS1 primary national curriculum and can be used with your ideas for primary learning activities, differentiation, homework and lesson plans.
