Year 3 | Creating a Character Worksheets

In these Year 3 creating a character (narrative writing) worksheets, your class is about to embark on an imaginative journey! This activity features an illustration of a girl, and after a thoughtful examination of this character, pupils are prompted to answer a series of questions: “What is her name? Where does she live? What are her interests? What do you notice about her?” Additionally, they are asked to choose just one word that best describes this character. Following this exploration, learners dive into writing a sentence or two describing the character’s personality, accompanied by one reason why she possesses this personality. The next step involves explaining the character’s strengths and how these contribute to achieving her goals. To cap it off, using the information they’ve gathered, your pupils will write an opening paragraph to a narrative story that introduces this character.

This worksheet provides an excellent platform for your pupils to begin building their writing skills through character creation. It emphasises the importance of planning and developing a character’s background to bring them to life in a story. Get ready for an imaginative and narrative writing adventure!
