Year 6 Colons between Clauses Worksheets | KS2 Punctuation | Primary English

Year 6 | Colons between Clauses Worksheets

In these Year 6 worksheets on using colons between clauses, pupils are tasked with a challenge. They need to read sentences, identify the broken clauses, and enhance them by adding a colon. Following that, your learners will work on completing partially written sentences by using colons and a second clause. It’s important for them to keep in mind that the second clause should explain the first one.

This worksheet helps your class learn that a colon can connect two main clauses to explain something. In an explanation, the second part clarifies the first part, and the part before the colon must always be a complete idea. Using colons between clauses allows learners to add more variety and depth to their writing.

Our Year 6 punctuation worksheets are aligned with the KS2 national curriculum and will support your primary learning activities, differentiation, homework and lesson plans.
