Counting in 11s – Fill the Empty Spaces | 11 Times Table Activity Worksheets

Are your learners ready to improve their knowledge of counting in elevens? This counting in 11s – fill the empty spaces activity worksheet encourages pupils to recognise and complete number sequences by filling in the missing numbers in a series of steps of 11. Each row includes a different sequence with blanks to complete, such as 11, 22, __, 44, 55. Children must use their understanding of multiples of 11 to work out which numbers are missing and record them accurately. This KS2 maths resource reinforces sequential understanding while supporting mental arithmetic and number fluency through repeated pattern recognition.

Key Curriculum Focus

This KS2 times tables/multiplication worksheet aligns with the national curriculum by supporting:

  • Recognising patterns and relationships when counting in multiples of 11
  • Increasing fluency with multiplication facts by completing number sequences
  • Building accuracy in identifying and applying multiplication rules

By requiring learners to complete partially filled sequences, this worksheet encourages them to look for mathematical patterns and apply their 11 times table knowledge in a consistent, structured way. It deepens confidence with number sequences and helps children internalise the structure of the 11 times table through repetition and prediction.

11 Times Table in KS2 Maths

Understanding the 11 times table means seeing it as repeated addition of elevens. For example, 11, 22, 33, 44 shows how each number increases by 11. In KS2, children strengthen this concept by combining visual tools such as number grids with mental strategies like repeated addition. As they become more familiar, they begin to recall facts more rapidly and apply them when solving wider multiplication problems.

Activity Idea: Number Ladder Race

Draw two vertical ladders on the board. Split the class into two teams. One at a time, children race to the board and fill in the next correct multiple of 11 in their team’s ladder (e.g. 11, 22, 33…). The first team to reach 132 wins.
